Prefixes

This week students will be learning about prefixes.  Prefixes come at the beginning of a root word.  Prefixes help us to understand words and decode them when we don't always know the meaning.

Example:
unhappy
un(meaning not)- is the prefix
happy- is the root word

Prefixes that we are studying this week include:
un- (means not)
pre- (means to do before)
re- (means to do again)
dis- (means not)
