Welcome to our second grade blog! We hope you will find it useful and provide tools that support what we are teaching in the classroom. "The principal goal of education is to create men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done."
- Jean Piaget
This week we are working with suffixes as our phonics skill. Suffixes come at the end of root words. For example: slower (slow is the root word; -er is the suffix) It’s helpful to have a good understanding of what prefixes and suffixes are. Knowing their meanings and when they are generally used can help you figure out unknown words and can also help make your writing better. If you need to review what these are, or learn their meanings, online practice can be very helpful.
